Ever Glorious and Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Universe and Mother of Mercy, chosen by the Father to be the Mother of His Son Jesus Christ, I cast myself into your arms confident of finding in your most loving heart peace and fulfillment.  O treasure of Divine Grace and refuge of sinners, be my guide and inspiration in this valley of tears.  O fragrant Lily of Holiness, captivate my heart and have pity on my urgent request – (mention the favor you need).  I ask this favor through that love and humility which you showed at the Presentation of the Child Jesus in the temple.  O Lady of Candelaria, I thank the Lord for having given you to me an unworthy person to be my own mother who is worthy of all my love.  Be always my intercessor before Jesus for all the graces necessary in my life, besides my personal necessities I also pray for the members of this parish, our Church leaders, and especially our priests.  In our quest for peace and reconciliation please give us the light to brighten our path in this world and lead us further to everlasting joy in heaven.  Amen.

Our Lady of Candelaria, pray for us.

God the Father, we join together in prayer and petition heaven for divine intervention to mitigate earthquakes and natural disasters.

We invoke the powerful name of Jesus to calm the storms of time and to bring forth a millennium of peace and tranquility.

We pray to the Virgin Mary to intercede on behalf of humanity for God’s hand of mercy to bless us with divine protection.

We ask this and thank thee in the name of Jesus.

Amen.

O Jesus, Divine Shepherd of souls who called the Apostles to become fishers of men, now call the ardent and generous hearts of our youth, to make them Your followers and ministers; let them share Your thirst for that universal redemption, for which You daily renew Your sacrifice upon the altar.

O Lord Jesus always living to make intercession for us, extend their horizons to the entire world, where so many brethren make silent supplication for the light of truth and the warmth of love, so that answering Your call, many young men may prolong here Your mystical body, the Church, and become the salt of the earth, and the light of the world.

Extend, O Lord, Your loving call to many pure and generous hearted young women, that they may grow in their desire for the evangelical perfection and may dedicate themselves to the service of the Church and their neighbors who so desperately need such assistance and charity.

This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, and through the powerful intercession of our Lady of Candelaria.

Amen.

Eternal Word, only begotten Son of God,
Teach me true generosity.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve.
To give without counting the cost,
To fight heedless of wounds,
To labor without seeking rest,
To sacrifice myself without thought of any reward
Save the knowledge that I have done your will.

Amen.

Lord God, this is the land of my birth, the land I love. I am part of it and part of its people. You made this land and gave it to us. Rule among our people so that we may never misuse this gift through selfishness and greed. Rule through our leaders and guide them in ways of justice and peace. Make us realize that we are called to spread the Good News not only among our own people but also throughout the whole world. So let us grow in faith, in hope, in love to become Your faithful witnesses.

Amen.

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep these Your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart where none may harm them. Keep holy their anointed hands which daily touch Your Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood. Keep pure and holy their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of Your Glorious Priesthood. Let Your love surround them and keep them from the world’s earthly pleasures. Bless their labor with abundant fruits, and may the souls to whom they minister be on earth their joy and consolation, and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.

O God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You are the soul and the life of the Church. Hear the prayers we offer for priests. We ask this through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, their protector and guide. Amen.

9-DAY NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF CANDELARIA

Prayer for Every Day of the Novena
O Son of God, who became man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin  Mary, we thank You for giving Your consent to be brought to the temple  by Your Mother in order to be presented to God the Father in payment for our sins against divine justice. By the infinite merits of Your Presentation in the Temple of Jerusalem, and through the prayers of Your most Holy Mother, grant us, through Your act of redeeming us, the grace we need.  O Jesus, light of the world, enlighten our minds and be our guide in our way in this valley of tears.  Give us living faith, firm hope and burning love of God and neighbor, so that in the hour of death we can, like the prophet Simeon, say: “Now, O Lord, you can dismiss your servant in peace for my eyes have seen the salvation of your people Israel.”

Novena Prayer
O Most Humble Virgin, even as you conceived Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, You chose to remain a virgin even after childbirth, as you were before.  You still went to the temple in fulfilment of the Jewish law of purification, just like the other women after giving birth.  By the merits of your virtue of humility, deliver us from the sin of pride and make us realize our sinfulness and the lowliness of our situation.  Help us to be humble like you even when despised by others and even in the face of sickness and hurts that God may send us, so that we can obtain forgiveness of our sins, repay God’s justice here on earth and be delivered even from the sufferings of purgatory and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).  We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Saviour and Redeemer.  Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

Our Lady of Candelaria, pray for our family.
Our Lady of Candelaria, pray for our parish.
Our Lady of Candelaria, pray for our country.

Novena Prayer
O Mary, most shining example of obedience, when forty days after your child bearing were over, you went to the temple of God although you were not bound by this law, and there was no need for you to be purified as you were free from original sin, and you yourself had not sinned.  Pure was the fruit of your womb, Jesus, and as a virgin you conceived Him and gave birth to Him who issued from your chaste womb like the ray of the sun that pierces glass neither breaking nor staining it.  Because of the merits of your obedience, grant us the grace to be obedient to the law of God and the laws of the church that we too may attain someday that glorious and eternal reward in heaven, and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).  We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.

Novena Prayer
O Virgin most simple, you were not perturbed by what others would say regarding your cleanliness.  You did not deem it low to submit yourself to God’s law of purification. Through the merits of your gentleness and simplicity, grant us the grace to be obedient to the laws of God and the church, to participate regularly at holy mass, to confess and receive holy communion, to fulfill other devotions without being perturbed about what the worldly wise would say, so that in the end Jesus will speak for us before his heavenly Father as He said “I will not disown before my father those who do not disown me before men.  “Be merciful 0 most Blessed Mother on our miseries and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).  We ask this in the name of Jesus our Saviour and redeemer.  Amen

Novena Prayer
O Virgin most devout, when you offered at the temple your Son Jesus, He was accepted by God, His Father as the offering that alone can pay for            the sins of the whole world against divine justice.  Through the merits of your deep devotion of God and obedience to the divine will, grant us the grace of unity of our hearts with Jesus who is offered at holy mass so that we may be pleasing to God the Father.  May we always pray for both the living and the dead and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).  We ask this in name of Jesus our Saviour and redeemer.  Amen

O Virgin most compassionate, when you offered to God the Father your beloved Son, you gladdened the heart of Simeon when you let him take Jesus into his arms.  He was enlightened
by the Holy Spirit so that he recognized the child you brought as the desire and hope of the nations.  Through your love and compassion for people, help us to recognize your only Son, so that we may be capable of great deeds and of humility in all the name of Jesus.  Because we are weak, dear Lady, when you see us in sorrow, show us your Son so that we will be strengthened in our resolve to remain faithful and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).   We ask this in the name of Jesus your Son and our Redeemer.  Amen

O virgin most powerful, God raised you higher than the saints and angels.  You were made a dispenser of grace which you still use for the glory of God and the salvation of souls as you did when you visited your cousin Elizabeth, and the prophetess Annah at the temple in Jerusalem.
Grant us the grace to have recourse to your compassionate heart so that we may obtain the powerful aid we need to serve and love God, and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention favor).   We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer.  Amen.

Novena Prayer
O Virgin most given to the life of poverty in the spirit so that you can live for God alone, you gave to the poor what you inherited from your parents and the treasures which the three wise men brought to your Son Jesus, such that when you offered your Son in the temple, you could afford nothing but the offering of the poor:  two young pigeons.  Through your detachment from the things of this earth, obtain for us the grace to understand the words of the sacred scriptures.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” and grant us the grace we ask in this novena (mention request).  We ask you in the name of Jesus, our Saviour and our Redeemer.  Amen.

O model of patience and perseverance, your understanding and will are fully attuned to God such that Simeon the prophet’s praise of your Son Did not cause you to be proud, and his prophecy about the pain and suffering of your beloved son did not disturb your mind and will. Through the merits of the strength by which you were ready to accept both blessing and suffering which the Lord your God would send you, grant us the grace to accept the pain and ease, joy and sorrow, wealth and poverty that God may send us and grant us the grace we ask in his novena (mention request).  We ask this in the name of Jesus our Saviour and our Redeemer.  Amen.

O Virgin of sorrows whose heart was pierced by a sword when you heard Simeon’s prophecy of the passion and death of your beloved Son, Your loving heart turned to the sorrows of Joseph your husband, finding from him words of comfort and surrender to God’s will.  Through the merits of your deepest sorrows, grant us the grace of real sorrow for our sins, the grace of God’s forgiveness for our faults and failures and the hope over Jesus’ words to sinners “Have courage, my child, Your sins are forgiven” and grant us the grace we request for in this Novena (mention request).  We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Saviour and our Redeemer.  Amen.
