For 2015, the theme for the Presentation of the Child Jesus (PCJ) Parish’s annual Christmas Gift-Giving Program was “Adopt A Family”, pursuant with the Diocesan Theme for 2016 – Year of the Family and the Eucharist.
Starting with the 2015 Advent Season, as well as during the 9-day Simbang Gabi Novena Masses, parishioners offered their support to the said program through their prayer cards, wherein they wrote their families’ Christmas wishes together with their donations to the program.
On December 30, 2015 (Wednesday), the gifts to the chosen families were given out. The day started with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 6:45 a.m. which was led by His Excellency, Most Reverend Bishop Jesse Mercado. This was followed by a simple breakfast and fellowship and sharing among the participants. The day culminated with the handing of the gift packs to the participating families.
The beneficiaries, which comprised of around 220 families, were limited to those who are presently involved in the parish either through membership in the BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities), parish feeding and scholarship program or the different parish ministries. Each of the recipient family received 5 kilos of rice, a pail-full of assorted grocery items and a bag of processed meats like ham, bacon and hotdogs to augment their family’s Noche Buena.
The annual outreach program of PCJ is made possible through the generosity and continuous support of parishioners, who always heed the call of the parish for donations, whether in cash or in kind, for the gift giving program.
