Truly blessed, the Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish, located in the midst of a community now totally inspired by the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, sharing between the members of its community through the basic ecclesial communities and the homilies of its priests, celebrated its 34th year with a Thanksgiving Concert last 30 January 2016.
At 8:00 in the evening, parish priest Fr. Rodel Paulino invited everyone inside the PCJ parish church to stand up and in unison give praise and thanksgiving to its Savior and Redeemer; this lifted up everyone who participated in the event, an event centered on the Eucharist and the Family, in this year of Mercy.
The concert’s production was headed by Ambel Sanchez, Vice President of the Legion of Mary, Praesidium Maria Causa Nostre Laetitiae and an active member of the St. Paul BEC Cluster. Her daughter, Ma. Leogarda “Yeng” Matias directed the whole show.
The opening number featured the Sanloob Choir which is composed of about 40 young boys from the developing communities. Their rendition of this year’s theme in the Year of the Eucharist and the Family, “Christ in Us” as their heartfelt expression of gratitude to the blessings they have been receiving, touched the audience.
The rest of the evening was graced by performances of Martin de Vera, a young and upcoming artist from GMA 7’s Primetime weekend program “To the Top”; DYNAMIX, a group of five young music professionals and winners of the Ryan Cayabyab Akapela Open for the past two years; and an award-winning singer, formerly member of the International Group “Kulay” and one of the Voice Philippines finalists, Radha.
A very young and aspiring child artist, Chio Adanya, wowed the audience with a duet rendition of “Drag Me Down” with Martin de Vera.
The clergy had its own contribution to the concert in the person of Fr. John Paul del Rosario. To the delight of the audience, he sang “Basta’t Kasama Kita”, a song popularized by Coco Martin. The audience clamored for more, but unfortunately, he had to leave after rendering one song.
The night was capped by the song “Stella Maris” sung by the whole congregation led by The Korus Choir headed by former Music Ministry head, Atoy Bautista, in honor of our Blessed Mother.
Fr. Rodel Paulino, thanked everyone who participated to make this event a success, all parish servants and parishioners who most generously shared their time, talents and treasures to support all parish programs for the past few years and of course, to the most generous Lord Jesus Christ who have kept the PCJ community together, under His Mantle of Love.
