A yearly tradition and devotion at PCJ, honoring Mama Mary during the month of May is, “Alay kay Maria”, and this year, it started May 2 until May 31, 2018, Monday to Friday.

Children from the different BEC Clusters, particularly those from the developing communities, Sanloob, COMCARE, and Junior Legion of Mary participated this year.

Program of activities included daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, Catechesis three (3) times a week, and daily flower offerings to the shrine of Our Lady of Candelaria.  Simple snacks were shared with the children after their floral offering.

The climax of this devotion to our Blessed Mother was the Grand Alay on May 31.  The participating children were in their best white attire.  A special program comprised of the recitation of the Holy Rosary, song and dance numbers, and  a spiritual message from our parish priest,  Fr. Willie Ramos.  The children sang “Araw-araw kay Maria” with violin accompaniment, courtesy of Bert Dacuycuy, as they offered their flowers during this final tribute to Our Lady of Candelaria inside the church.

Fellowship immediately followed at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Center.  School supplies were then distributed to the children as a token for their outstanding attendance to this activity.

The “Alay kay Maria 2018”  was organized by the active members of  BEC – Legion of Mary, COMCARE, and Sanloob.  The Marian Circle took charge of the purchasing of flowers for this activity, aside from their Saturday and Sunday selling of flowers at every Mass. Tokens in the form of school supplies  for the children were also handled by the Marian Circle.
