The current and troubling events in our country including the deaths of thousands in the war against drugs,  killing of our priests,  heightened attacks on our Catholic faith and human dignity call for prayer of healing and  renewal of our beloved  homeland, the Philippines.   In response,  starting on June 27, 2018 and every Wednesday at 1:00-3:00pm thereafter,  The Heart of the Lamb Intercessors (HOLI) lead the faithful in the Intercession for Healing and Renewal of the Philippines at the Adoration Chapel of the Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish.

“I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this place for my house of sacrifice…and if my people humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways,  I will  hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land”  2 Chronicles 7:12-16 (God’s promise to Solomon)

The Intercessory Prayer is composed of scriptural readings,  meditations during moments of sacred silence,  prayer of repentance,  songs of worship,  scriptural rosary,  Divine Mercy Litany and  5 intercessory pleadings to our Lord Jesus.   The first pleading seeks forgiveness for the times we have wounded His Heart because we chose violence, vice, greed, corruption and death, among other things and for the times we did not stand up for truth but instead fostered the lies of Satan in our lifestyle.

The second pleading seeks to raise up the souls of the departed victims of violence and merciless killings especially the priests.  That the perpetrators be convicted, converted and brought to justice.  That the families of victims be comforted in their moments of grief and be given hope when they are in despair.  To bring back law and order in our country and restore respect for  human life and dignity.

The third pleading surrenders our beloved country the Philippines to His merciful Heart for healing, renewal and transformation.  To cleanse our government of corruption and injustice.   To breathe compassion and righteousness  in the hearts of our leaders and public servants.  To enlighten them to pursue restorative justice, good governance and integrity in public office.

The fourth pleading seeks enlightenment  to defend our faith and deepen our resolve to do His holy will at all cost. Make our country truly worthy of the title, “Pearl of the Orient” and clothe her with garment of salvation and fully united with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our mother and intercessor.

The fifth pleading prays for the church in the Philippine to steadfastly proclaim, nurture and defend the Catholic faith amidst opposition from evil forces.   Discernment and unity among our bishops in response to the attacks on the dignity of life, social justice and truths and morals of the Catholic Church.  To protect our priests, consecrated persons and lay workers who take the risk of persecution while fulfilling their apostolic work.  Awaken the people to be bold witnesses of Christ and to take a prophetic stance against the false prophets of our time who undermine the Gospel of Jesus and destroy the law of love.

Ending prayer is taken from the Pastoral Letter of Bsp. Jesse Mercado, Bishop of Paranaque — PRAYER FOR THE CULTURE OF LIFE AND PEACE —  that sums up the 5 intercessory pleadings.

The Intercessory Prayer at the Adoration Chapel is open to all who want to join the HOLI ministry in praying for the healing and renewal of our country.
