Following the exhortation of Pope Francis to all priests to become “shepherds living with the smell of the sheep,” the PCJ Parish, though its BEC commission, has been regularly holding a Kapihan with its parish priest, Fr. Willie Ramos, in the different enclaves of the church community. The objective of the Kapihan or more rightly termed as Misa to Mesa is to give an opportunity for the homeowner-parishioners to meet and get to know up close and personal the parish priest and other PCJ clergy.
This year, the Kapihan with Fr. (Misa to Mesa) was sponsored by the St. Paul BEC Cluster, composed of the enclaves of BFTHAI, BF Aratiles, BF Kanluran, BF Midwest, Elysium and Havana. The activity, held last July 27 (Saturday) at the Multipurpose Center of BFTHAI, started with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by Fr. Willie at 6 pm. Dinner followed with a musical entertainment courtesy of Atty. Homer Mendoza, BF’s own Elvis Presley. It was a trip down memory lane as Atty. Homer rendered some nostalgic Elvis’ songs to the delight of the crowd, both young and old.
The evening’s fun continued with the parish youth and BEC members joining in the various games – Leron-Leron Sinta (getting to know you game), Matira Matibay (with participants choosing the right answers to the trivia questions about the parish and PCJ clergy, and the last one standing wins), Bring Me Contest and the Jack and Poy 20-20 winner takes all.
Despite the downpour, the participants came in full force and enjoyed the evening’s program and camaraderie. In his closing remarks, Fr. Willie thanked the organizers and homeowners for their support. He encouraged the holding of similar Misa to Mesa in other enclaves to give the homeowners an opportunity to bond and have fun together.
