Prayer Vigil for Peace

“Our Lady of Fatima, we come on bended knees
To beg your intercession for peace and unity.
Dear Mary, won’t you show us the right and shining way?
We pledge our love and offer you a rosary each day.
You promised at Fatima, each time that you appeared
To help us if we pray to you to banish war and fear
Dear Lady, on first Saturdays, we ask your guiding hand
For grace and guidance here on earth and protection for our land.”

With the lyrics of this beautiful song for Our Lady, the prayer vigil for peace of the Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish ended on July 01, 2017.

The PCJ Parish Pastoral Council headed by Albert and Lorna Buenviaje, spearheaded the pilgrimage to the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Philamlife Homes, Las Pinas City. PCJ was tasked to accompany the Lady from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Ministry representatives of PCJ led the praying of three mysteries of the Holy Rosary during this time.

The year 2017 marks the 100th year of the apparitions of Our Lady to three children at Fatima, Portugal. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, six times between May 13 to October in 1917.

Our Lady asked the children to pray the rosary every day and to bring peace to the world (an end to World War I). Our Lady also told the children that people should add this prayer after each decade of the rosary:

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy Mercy.  Amen.”

To celebrate the Centennial of the Apparitions of Fatima, by mandate of Pope Francis, a Jubilee Year was granted from November 27, 2016 until November 26, 2017. “The Plenary Indulgence of the Jubilee Year is granted to the pious faithful who visit with devotion an image of Our Lady of Fatima displayed in an adequate place, and who devotedly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary, on the anniversary days of the Apparitions (the 13th of each month, from May to October 2017)”.
